Kirsten loves the daycare we started here at our home.
The other day we ate our breakfast outside while we were waiting for the kids to come.
I asked her if she would like to say grace.
She did and this was her earnest prayer:
God, thank you that the kids are coming.
Thank you that they are black.
Thank you for the food.
Amen.
Here is a picture of her with her favorite friend.
Look at the way Kirsten's eyes are shining.
She has been so happy since we started the daycare.
Kirsten's language is exploding and she comes up with the cutest things.
Here's a conversation we had on the way to church:
Kirsten: "Mom, what that is?"
Me: "That's the bank, Kirsten."
Kirsten: "No, that's the lollipop store, Mom."
She fell on some hot ashes when we were camping and got a nice sized burn on her forehead. She cried at first, but was so patient and brave with it. In fact, she really likes the attention she gets from it. She told Uncle PD that "I fell in the fire. All by myself."
Kirsten and her grandpa got an ouchie on the same weekend.
So he stopped in to take some pictures together.

One thing we have told Kirsten many many times when she was crying is, "Just talk, Kirsten, tell us what you want instead of just crying." Today Brennan was crying in his car seat and through the cries I heard Kirsten's conversation to Brennan, "Brennan, just talk. Please. Talk, Brennan. Don't cry. Talk. Brennan, talk. . ."
I have yet to see what kind of girl Kirsten will be. In fact, almost all of her development skills have been delayed. And then sometimes she does stuff that I don't even know if I could do. Like her memory verse from Sunday school. Every time after Sunday school she come back to me and sits down and tells me what her verse was. And for the next week you can ask her at anytime what her verse was last Sunday and she remembers it.
It seems like being a mom gets better all the time.

Kids have such a way of keeping us on our toes and challenging us. and yes i know what you mean...we sometimes wonder if they really understand what we tell them or if they even hear, and then it comes out in their conversations. So fun to see!
Enjoyed your post!
